The Eta Zeta chapter of Gamma Phi Beta was founded in 2011 at the University of Cincinnati. Since our charter, we have grown exceptionally as a proud member of the Greek community and UC campus life. Our sisters are highly involved in activities on and off campus, including sports, clubs and organizations, volunteering, community service, and much more.
Gamma Phi Beta was founded in 1874 at Syracuse University in New York. Frances E. Haven, Helen M. Dodge, E. Adeline Curtis and Mary A. Bingham, our four founders, bonded together to form one of the 10 oldest women's organizations in North America. In a time when women were discouraged from going to college, they faced adversity and grew intellectually with love and support from each other. These four women first coined the term "sorority" and began to build a rich and vibrant history where women shined as leaders, role models, intellectuals, friends and sisters.
